ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 launch their Schools Programme

ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 have launched their World Cup Schools Programme in partnership with Chance to Shine.

The Programme will capture the imagination of teachers, students and their parents across the country by bringing the fun and excitement of the Cricket World Cup into the classroom and the playground.

The World Cup Schools Programme is hosted on the Chance to Shine Teachers’ Portal and is accessible to every school in England and Wales, giving teachers and schools an opportunity to engage with the ICC Cricket World Cup through free curriculum resources.

The Schools Programme is a core pillar of the strategic plan from ECB and ICC to use the Cricket World Cup 2019 to boost cricket participation, engage over 1 million 5-12-year-olds throughout the tournament and help drive the long-term growth of the game in England and Wales.

All schools that sign up to the online portal could gain access to unique rewards and prizes, including tickets to World Cup matches in their local area, fantastic match-day experiences, visits by the World Cup trophy and ambassadors, and much more.

In Durham, we are hosting three ICC Cricket World Cup fixtures, tickets for which schools can apply for from Monday 29 October via the portal.

In the classroom, the World Cup Schools programme will deliver six half-term projects throughout the school year to educate KS1 and KS2 pupils in a fun and exciting way through the ICC Cricket World Cup. These flexible projects have been developed with teachers and include presentations, videos and competitions. The projects can be tailored to suit your school’s requirements, and there will be a range of prizes and rewards on offer for all schools that get involved.

After the excitement of learning about the tournament in the classroom, schools from across the country will be encouraged to play cricket through fun and engaging participation activities.

The first online teaching resources are already available on the Cricket World Cup Portal with new and relevant content being added every term as we build towards the start of the tournament.
