6th August 2019 T20 Blast

13-man squad announced for Blast trip

Durham are back on the road as they face a Vitality Blast double header against Northants Steelbacks and Derbyshire Falcons.

James Franklin’s side are in contention for a knockout spot as they approach the halfway stage of the competition.

First up the Ds face the Northants Steelbacks in the reverse of the opening Blast fixture on Wednesday – Durham winning the first game by 7 runs – before travelling to the Falcons two days later.

With three wins and three defeats in their six games to date, Durham are at a crossroads as they look to emulate their 2018 campaign where they hosted a quarter-final.

D’Arcy Short has been in imperious form in the competition scoring 245 runs and taking eight wickets to lead the MVP rankings.

Northants currently sit bottom of the North Group table having won just one game in five – that win a D/L victory over the Birmingham Bears.

Derbyshire sit two places below Durham in 7th, with two victories in six outings with wins over Northants and Yorkshire Vikings.

Squad vs Northants Steelbacks and Derbyshire Falcons (7 & 9 August)

Scott Steel, D’Arcy Short, Chris Rushworth, Peter Handscomb, Ben Raine, Brydon Carse, Jack Burnham, Liam Trevaskis, Matthew Potts, Graham Clark, Alex Lees, Stuart Poynter, Nathan Rimmington
