Attention turns back to red ball cricket tomorrow [10:30am] when Durham take on Derbyshire at the Incora County Ground as the LV= Insurance County Championship returns.
Lead High Performance coach James Franklin has named a 13-player squad for the Derbyshire clash, as Durham head into their final four games of the season.
Michael Jones is back from Scotland ODI duty and Ben Raine returns from the Hundred with the Northern Supercharges as both come back into the 13-player squad.
Stanley McAlindon returns from England under-19s representation and Sean Dickson could be in line to make his red ball return for the first time since Glamorgan in May.
Alex Lees and Matthew Potts are not available as they remain on England duty ahead of England’s final Test match of the summer which commences on Thursday. David Bedingham is recovering from a fractured finger sustained during the Championship fixture against Middlesex and is not yet ready for a return to action.
Durham sit in 6th place in Division 2 with 125 points and just one win, while Derbyshire have 155 points and occupy the 4th place spot.

Derbyshire
Coach: Mickey Arthur
Captain: Billy Godleman
Last year’s performance: 5th (Division 3)
2021 leading run scorer: MJJ Critchley (1000, 60.52)
2021 leading wicket taker: BW Aitchison (34, 38.6) Overseas players: Suranga Lakmal (Sri Lanka), Dustin Melton (Zimbabwe), Shan Masood (Pakistan)
Key player: Wayne Madsen is a key member of the Derbyshire top order battning line up which has been evident this summer across both formats. He is enjoying his red ball cricket this season where he has scored 1037 runs averaging over 70. His highest score of 176 was in Derbyshire’s most recent County Championship game against Sussex.
Under the radar: Anaj Dal – Dal’s breakthrough came last summer when he scored his maiden hundred, 106 against Leicestershire at Derby, featuring in a county sixth wicket record partnership of 227 with Brooke Guest. He has so far this season scored 725 runs and claimed 2 wickets.
Young potential: Michael Cohen – A skiddy left-arm quick from Cape Town, the 22-year-old made an encouraging start to life at Derby last summer, taking five wickets and hitting a match-clinching 30* on debut against Notts. The former Western Province seamer – who took his 50th first-class wicket before turning 21 – should have plenty of opportunity to impress.
