2nd XI win high scoring double against Yorkshire

Durham Cricket 2nd XI picked up a derby day double in their T20 matches at Marske Cricket Club on Monday.

In game one of the double header Liam Trevaskis and Michael Jones set the tone early with knocks of 40 and 32 respectively.

Stuart Poynter then produced a stunning display of strokeplay with 70 of 29 balls including six sixes – ably assisted by Jack Burnham who scored 45 to set a target of 218/6 off Durham’s 20 overs.

Oliver Gibson and Trevaskis both took three wickets in Yorkshire’s reply – the hosts falling 29 runs short of victory despite 73 from Will Fraine

Jack Burnham took two wickets with Gareth Harte taking the other.

In game two Yorkshire batted first setting a score of 168 all out from their 20 overs – Fraine again the top scorer with 49 to his name.

Chris Rushworth and Gavin Main both struck with three wickets apiece – Scott Steel striking twice in an economical two overs and Ben Raine with a solo wicket.

In reply Scott Steel set the tone early with 63 from 35 balls alongside Harry Adair (26) opening the batting.

Cameron Steel (32*) and James Weighell (29*) guided Durham to victory by seven wickets with 15 balls to spare.
