Durham made it three wins from three in the ECB Under 16’s County Cup with victories over Cumbria and Lincolnshire.
Durham boys’ under 16’s took on Cumbria first at Crook Cricket Club and visiting captain Jack Lord put the hosts into the field.
Cumbria began their innings positively with an opening partnership of 48; Faizan Ghumman made 31 before he was bowled by Will Alexander with Cumbria 58 for two.
The third wicket stand was worth 31 when skipper Lord became Charlie Burdon’s first of two victims. Teddy Minto took his first of three before Burdon’s second had Cumbria 95 for five.
After a partnership of 24, Teddy Minto then claimed the next two scalps of Josh Mackie and Kian Larmour (43). Oliver Sanday (25) and Oliver Armstrong (9*) put on 29 for the eighth wicket before the Cumbria innings ended quickly.
Jim Twiddy took wickets of Sanday and Ethan Hardie-Knight sandwiched by a runout of Billy Thompson as Cumbria lost their final three wickets for ten runs to finish 165 all out inside 46 overs.
Hardie-Knight got Cumbria off to a flying start in their response as he bowled both James Minto and Robbie Bowman to leave Durham 14 for two.
Luke Symington put on 56 with Rohan Vagadia (18) and went on to score a half-century with four fours and two sixes.
Mackie removed Vagadia before Zack Dodds took his first of three wickets, removing Alexander. Sanday took Symington’s wicket before Dodds took two further wickets to leave Cumbria fighting with Durham 137 for seven after a quickfire 23 from Abdy.
Hedley Windows and Twiddy managed to guide Durham home by three wickets, sharing a 29-run partnership.
The side followed this up with a dominant nine wicket win over Lincolnshire at Alkborough Cricket Club. After being put in the field, James Minto ran riot as he took the opening three wickets for Durham, ending with figures of 5-12.
Finaly Barlow took the next two wickets as Lincoln fell 12 for five. Minto then completed his five-wicket haul with the hosts on just 17 with wickets on consecutive balls.
