Academy squads for 2025 confirmed

Durham Cricket are delighted to confirm the squads for both the Men’s and Women’s Academies ahead of the 2025 season.

The Women’s Academy cohort will be the first intake below Durham women’s professional squad – marking an historic occasion for the County, with 14 girls named in Durham’s maiden cohort.

Meanwhile, Durham Men’s Academy who have a proud and successful record of developing elite men’s talent for Durham and England – have a cohort of nine players going into 2025.

The men’s cohort for 2025 will see two new additions with top order batter Faizan Ghumman (Furness Cricket Club) and quick bowler Will Alexander (South Northumberland) progressing from the EPP squad.

The women’s academy will be led by Head of Female Talent Pathway Rachel Hopkins and will be assisted by Tom Cant, James Lunn and Layla Tipton with the men’s academy led by Academy Director John Windows alongside Cole Pearce and Stuart Poynter.

Both squads will play a number of games against other counties throughout the summer.

Owen Harwood – right-arm seam / right-hand batter
