Applications being taken for U17/U19 trials

The process of finding players for the Under-17 & Under-19 side begins in January with the winter training squads and applications are now being accepted.

Last year’s Under-19 side won the County Championship and spaces have become available to join the squad this year.

If selected, the squad undergo a winter training programme before playing a number of friendly matches ahead of five two-day games in July and August.

Trials for the Under-19 side take place in the indoor school at Emirates Riverside on Friday, 13 January between 3-5pm.

The Under-17 side play in two competitions, a 50-over league and a three-day County Championship format, and has again been successful in these formats over the years.

After the trials, training will be every Monday evening with net practice on specific skills each week.

Trials for the Under-17 side take place also take place at the indoor school at Emirates Riverside on Monday 9 & Monday 16 January between 7-9pm.

And Durham CCC’s Geoff Cook has encouraged players to apply as the club search for future stars.

“It is vital that we help and support the development of our most talented players. I would urge any young player with ambition to put themsevles forward for the trials,” he said.
