Arshad blasts 70 in high-scoring win

Result: Durham 2nd XI (168/3; Arshad 70, Harte 41*) beat Yorkshire 2nd XI (Gibson 103, Leaning 85*; Arshad 3/54) by seven wickets

Usman Arshad launched 70 off 33 balls as the Seconds beat Yorkshire in a rain-affected T20 at Marske.

The all-rounder, supported by Gareth Harte’s 41 & 32 from Liam Trevaskis, chased down a mammoth score against the White Rose.

Arshad’s knock contained no fewer than five sixes & six fours as he warmed up for tonight’s NatWest T20 Blast opener against Lancashire Lightning.

He fell with over 30 still required but Harte continued the onslaught with six boundaries of his own to see it home with four balls to spare for a pulsating win.

Arshad earlier took three wickets as Yorkshire posted a whopping 210/3, with Ryan Gibson notching a ton & Jack Leaning an unbeaten 85.

Trevaskis was the most economical of the bowlers, going for less than eight-an-over on a small ground & batsman-friendly pitch.
