Scorecard

Usman Arshad smashed 92 on his return from injury in the Seconds’ defeat to the MCC Young Cricketers at Emirates Riverside yesterday (22 May).

The all-rounder played for Neil Killeen’s side as a batsman-only as he steps up his recovery towards full fitness.

He came to the crease in a precarious position 85/4 before putting on 148 with Scott Steel, who made an unbeaten 53.

Playing within his normal attacking instincts, Arshad’s innings came off 107 balls though he did accelerate towards the end, striking five fours and three sixes.

It hauled the Seconds up to a total of 257/6 but the MCC side completed the chase in the final overs.

An opening stand of 99 between Don Manuwelge & Joe Barrett broke the back of the chase, with the former going on to make 82.

Adam Hickey bowled ten overs for figures of 2/43 but an unbeaten 33 from Saf Imtiaz ensured the visitors strolled home with eight balls to spare.
