Durham’s 2019 overseas player Cameron Bancroft returned to form with a huge knock of 154 in the Western Australia first grade competition.
Bancroft’s marathon knock handed his side, Willetton, the upper hand after the first day of their two-day clash against University at James Oval.
His marathon knock lasted for 240 balls & took him almost the entire day, becoming the eighth wicket to fall on 282 before they finished the day on 291/9.
After dominating the opening partnership of 50 with Iszak Milentis, Bancroft struggled for partners as wickets tumbled at the other end before a stand of 85 with Alex Hepburn pushed the score along towards the back end of the day.
Over in Abu Dhabi, Mark Wood made an impression for England Lions’ in their sole four day game against Pakistan A.
Wood was the pick of the first innings bowlers, taking 4/67 in a total of 195 all out.
A resilient 36 not out in the second innings helped push Pakistan’s target over 300 on the final day but on a slow, unresponsive pitch, the home batsmen ground the Lions down to take the win four wickets.
Wood’s sole wicket came when bowling opener Shan Masood, finishing with match figures of 5/123.
Funny old game against Pakistan A, felt like we had won 3 of the 4 days but they played well & wore us down on an unresponsive pitch in the end. A learning experience in conditions much different to home & now it’s time to reflect & prepare for the next fixture ? #EnglandCricket pic.twitter.com/LgaSX84KBO
