BBC confirm commentary for 2016 season

Commentary will be available across 39 local BBC stations for the fourth successive year, including the familiar voice of BBC Newcastle’s Martin Emmerson.

Online streams will be available for all fixtures, starting with the Specsavers County Championship match against Somerset on Sunday, meaning fans both inside and outside the Emirates Riverside will be able to tune in.

The BBC’s Head of Sport for English Regions, Charles Runcie, said: “We’re proud to deliver every ball from every first class county cricket match for the fourth year in a row.

“Getting audiences to the heart of the sporting action is a vital service that the BBC’s local radio network continues to provide to cricket fans across the counties.

Supporters can also stay in touch by following the club’s Twitter account, @DurhamCricket, and official Facebook page for regular updates throughout each game.

Match reports will also be available on the website immediately following the close of play.
