Bess Heath joins Durham on three-year deal

Durham Cricket are thrilled to announce the signing of wicketkeeper-batter Bess Heath on a three-year deal.

An enterprising batter who likes to make an impact in the middle of the order, Heath has over 3000 runs to her name in all formats as well as a proven pedigree with the gloves.

The England development contracted player has featured five times on the international arena, making her debut against Sri Lanka last year.

Having progressed through Derbyshire’s youth system, Heath has gone on to represent Brisbane Heat, Northern Superchargers, Melbourne Stars, Northern Diamonds and Yorkshire.

Heath made her professional debut aged 19, as she was part of the Northern Diamonds side that reached the final of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy in 2020, before lifting the trophy two years later.

She earned recognition for an impressive 2023 season- scoring 286 runs in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, receiving a nomination for the PCA Women’s Young Player of the Year award.

On joining Durham, Heath said: “I am so excited to be joining Durham from next season and get going in the North East.

“The opportunity to join Durham is something I am very much looking forward to and hopefully I can play my part in creating new history for Durham.”

Marcus North, Director of Cricket said: “Bess is one of the most exciting young talents in England, and we are thrilled to have recruited her to Durham on a long-term contract.

“Despite being only 23, she already has a tremendous amount of experience in the domestic game and we look forward to seeing her continue to thrive at Durham as she looks to add more England caps.”
