#Blast17: Ones to watch II

Blast is back this week!

The long-awaited return for the NatWest T20 Blast is almost over as we head towards our first two games of the season.

We have already looked at some of the most destructive players who will take to the turf at Emirates Riverside over the course of the next six weeks.

And here are some more to keep your eye on as we rapidly approach Friday’s first fixture.

 

Ish Sodhi

New Zealand leg break bower Ish Sodhi has joined up with Notts Outlaws for this season’s NatWest T20 Blast.

The 24 year old has taken 60 T20 wickets at an average of just 21.96 with his career best coming from just 3.3 overs as he bagged 6/11 for the Adelaide Strikers against the Sydney Thunder in the 2017 Big Bash League.

Sodhi also has 21 T20 international wickets, his best coming against India in Nagpur where he returned with figures of 3/18 from four overs.

John Hastings

Former Durham overseas player John Hastings signed for Worcestershire Rapids for this season’s campaign having taken 27 T20 wickets during his time at Durham.

The Australian all rounder has 96 T20 wickets to his name, his career best coming at Emirates Riverside, & the bowling all-rounder also starred with the bat, with his highest score with the bat also coming here in a thrilling chase against Northants Steelbacks.

Peter Handscomb

Batsman Peter Handscomb will play for Yorkshire Vikings this season with 465 runs throughout his T20 career.

Handscomb’s highest T20 score was 103* for the Melbourne Stars against the Perth Scorchers in the Australian Big Bash League, his century coming off 64 balls to lead them to a three wicket victory at the MCG.

Colin de Grandhomme

New Zealand all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme will make his NatWest T20 Blast debut this summer for the Birmingham Bears.

The 30-year-old has racked up 1,898 runs in T20 cricket at an average of 24.97, his highest score coming for Auckland against Canterbury in the New Zealand Super Smash, where he scored an unbeaten 72 in 35 balls.

de Grandhomme has also had an impressive bowling career having picked up 44 T20 wickets from 112 matches. His best came in the Indian Premier League, where he bagged three wickets for four runs in 1.4 overs for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
