Durham Academy remain top of the North East Premier League Banks Salver West Group after an 81-run victory over Willington on Sunday.
The Academy top order all scored runs at Manor Road, posting 256/7 from their 40 overs as Jonathan Bushnell led the way with 73 from 82 balls hitting 10 fours in the process.
Bushnell and Sol Bell added 50 for the first wicket in a positive opening stand, before Bell fell for 29.
Stuart Poytner fell one short of his half century, falling for a 34 ball 49, with five fours and one six, but Josh Coughlin remained unbeaten on 42 from just 26 balls hitting two maximums and four fours.
Lewis O’Donnell was the pick of the bowlers for the home side with 3/58 his eight overs, while Steven Alderson struck with two.
Durham Academy got off to the ideal start, when Sol Bell forced a run out, to send Adam Khan back to the pavilion for 0, having faced just one ball, shorty followed by Coughlin having Reece Carr caught for 15.
Having lost two quick wickets, a 69-run partnership from James Stock (55) and Jamie Dass (30) steadied the ship for the hosts – however it was Robbie Dawson who picked up both their wickets.
94/3 became 128/6 as Bushnell, Sebastian Hughes-Pinan and Josh Coughlin all bagged wickets in the middle period, Willington closing their 40 overs on 175/8.
Robbie Dawson picked up 3/29, while Josh Coughlin returned figures of 2/28.
