Boys’ Academy intake confirmed for 2020 season

Durham Cricket are delighted to welcome it’s 2020 boys’ academy intake to Emirates Riverside as winter work begins for the up and coming season.

The academy intake for the 2020 season has been confirmed with the following boys selected: Jonny Bushnell, Harry Crawshaw, Jo Defty, Luke Doneathy, Brodie Glenndinnig, Tom Mackintosh, Stanley McAlindon, Alfie Taylor-Clark and Rory Hanley.

Much respected Academy Director John Windows will once again lead the academy young guns as they look for another successful summer on the cricket pitch – working alongside high performance coaches, James Lowe, Will Gidman and Cole Pearce.

Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach James Bell is putting the boys’ through their paces throughout the winter, working with the boys’ on their fitness work in the lead up to the season.

Alongside the Academy, the 2020 Emerging Players Programme (EPP) are also training throughout the winter, having been selected from the county age group squads as players who have shown real potential to take the next step in their development.

The academies opposition in the NEPL and NYSD competitions are also confirmed, with the side looking to regain their NYSD MacMillan trophy with an away game at Billingham Synthonia Cricket Club – the side the Academy defeated in the final last summer. While they have been drawn in Group A of the NEPL Banks T20 alongside Burnmoor, Burnopfield, Hetton Lyons, Sacriston, Sunderland and Whitburn.

The EPP will also play a number of friendly fixtures which will be confirmed in the new year.
