“It was nice to have the reins for a while and it’s definitely good to be handing the one day captaincy back to Dale with a win. it was blustery, windy and miserable today so it was nice to come out with a positive result. We’ve been playing and I hope that continues”, said Breese
“I think it was a fantastic knock from Kyle, it’s always great if anyone can build an innings and score a hundred in one day cricket. He’s coming in at the top of the order and he’s looked good but hasn’t been pushing on so this was a good innings and it gave us the impetus to go on and score a high total without losing too many wickets.
“Consistency is really important and Muchy [Gordon Muchall] has been really consistent in this competition as well as playing well in the four day game – he’s going from strength to strength and this could be a great season for him.
“it’s not very often I get the chance to go in and score quickly so it was good that we had wickets in hand and a good total so I could use that as a launching pad, I was happy to have an innings like that!
“In a game like todays, with the bad weather looming you just want to get a few early wickets to push Duckworth Lewis out of reach. It didn’t come into play today but you never know what’s coming when you’re out there. The guys bowled well and it was good enough to the job today, but we know there are areas we still need to tighten up on.
“The wicket turned a little and with the wind blowing across I thought I’d bowl a couple of overs in the powerplay early on and it worked out alright. Scotty Borthwick made a good contribution getting their top scorer out, he’s a wicket taker and he’s proving his worth.
“We played well in the field today, the one thing we want is a few more run outs but the catches have been good and the one by Mark Wood today was excellent.
“I think we’re in the position we wanted to be in, we had a bit of a blip against Northants but if we can keep winning it would be fantastic for the club if we could get to another big day.”
