Durham Cricket are delighted with the news that Brydon Carse has been added to the England Lions red-ball squad for the next stage of their tour in Australia.
Carse has impressed so far on tour with the white-ball squad, taking four wickets from the two games he featured in.
Tom Abell, Tom Kohler-Cadmore will remain with Carse in Australia for the three red-ball matches. The retained trio were all part of the one-day squad that went unbeaten in the three completed matches against CA XI and NSW XI.
The Lions play against a Cricket Australia XI in Hobart (15-18 Feb), have a day/night fixture versus Australia A at the MCG (22-25 Feb) and finish against a New South Wales XI in Wollongong (2-5 February).
Carse is retained as cover for Saqib Mahmood, whose involvement in the IT20 series against South Africa will determine his availability for the final two matches of the Lions tour.
Abell and Kohler-Cadmore are retained as batting cover with Dom Sibley, Zak Crawley and Keaton Jennings set to depart after the MCG match to join the England squad in Sri Lanka.
Spinner Dom Bess and captain Lewis Gregory also will leave the tour after the match in Melbourne. Bess will travel to Sri Lanka for the Test series, while Gregory has been signed to play in the Pakistan Super League by Peshawar Zalmi.
