James Franklin has selected a 13-man squad for Durham Cricket’s first two Royal London One Day Cup fixtures, which begin this week at Northants (Wednesday, April 17) and Leicestershire (Friday, April 19).
Talented all-rounders Brydon Carse and Matty Potts – who struggled with injuries during the 2018 season – are passed fit and available for selection, plus Durham Cricket Academy graduate Scott Steel has been named in the 13 following a successful winter with the first team and a number of impressive performances for the seconds.
Durham will be captained in the white-ball competition by overseas signing Cameron Bancroft who will also keep wicket for the first two fixtures, which will be both played at Emirates Riverside.
Reliable seamer Chris Rushworth will miss this week’s games as he has slight side strain, which occurred during Durham’s Specsavers County Championship fixture against Sussex. The club has taken the decision to let him rest for the two upcoming fixtures in order to let Chris return to action as soon as possible.
Durham’s opening fixture will see them face Northants at Emirates Riverside this Wednesday (April 17) as the D’s aim to improve on their 9th place finish last season and compete for another One-Day Cup trophy.
