Carse ‘buzzing’ to produce lethal spell at Lord’s

Brydon Carse was in a jubilant mood after his ferocious spell after Lunch on day three at Lord’s shifted the game in Durham’s direction.

The paceman produced a devastating spell of 5-11 in 4.4 overs after Lunch to reduce the hosts to 151 all out chasing 196 to win, and Carse praised an unlikely source:

“Funnily enough, Chris Rushworth has said all week that the lamb chops are unbelievable at Lord’s,” joked Carse, “so when they were on the lunch menu today I proper dug in.”

That lunch led to a blistering spell of pace and accuracy, with four of his victims bowled:

“That was probably one of the better spells I’ve bowled, and to do it here at Lord’s is unbelievable.

“Everything just clicked. We’ve spoken throughout the whole game that you have got to try and target the stumps here and I’d like to know the stats on how many wickets were LBW and bowled. I’d imagine it’s quite a few, but I’m just buzzing to get a few wicket.”

The host came out after lunch needing 90 runs with wickets in hand, Sam Robson removed by Chris Rushworth just after the break to swing momentum is the visitors favour:

“We always knew we would have to be patient today and that when we did get a break through things could move quickly as it had done throughout the game, so I’m happy to contribute again.

“We earmarked Robson and Malan as the two key batsmen. I mean they have scored most of the runs this season for Middlesex, so to get Robson out first over after lunch I think that was massive for us.

“We almost felt the momentum change and go towards us, so yes, credit to Chris.”
