Rushworth has picked up over 200 wickets in all three formats of the game at an average of less than 25.
The Sunderland born star said “I’m obviously over the moon. It’s my home club, and to be given a new deal for a longer term is good for me and it’s good from the club to put their faith in me”
“It’s a big confidence booster and I hope that by 2017 we can win a few more titles and I can keep taking wickets.”
In recent seasons, Rushworth has formed a formidable new ball partnership with Graham Onions, who also signed a contract extension at Durham this year.
“It’s nice for me to be bowling at the other end to Graham and it’s great that he’s going to be here for the time that I’m here. Hopefully we can form a strong partnership for years to come”
Head Coach Jon Lewis added “We’re delighted that Chris has signed a long term extension to his contract. He’s an integral part of the team and he has been for several years”
“His fitness has been on the up and up, so we’re as confident as we can be that he’s a bowler that’s going to play a lot of cricket going forward.”
“It’s good for the club that we can plan for the future with senior players like him around”
