Colin Ackermann pens three year Durham deal from Leicestershire

Durham Cricket is thrilled to announce the signing of all-rounder Colin Ackermann who will join the club ahead of the 2024 season.

The 32-year-old joins Durham on a 3-year deal which will see Ackermann play for a second English county having spent 7 years with Leicestershire.

Joining the Grace Road side in 2017, Ackermann has scored almost 7,000 runs for Leicestershire which includes his career best 277 not out last season against Sussex at Hove.

Colin boasts an impressive first-class record with close to 10,000 red ball runs at 40.14 with 21 hundred and 61 fifties.

An all-format player, right-handed Ackermann has amassed 3786 T20 runs, with 1,962 of them coming for the Foxes – as he holds the record for the most T20 runs at the county.

While he was in the world record books in 2019 breaking the record for the best men’s T20 bowling figures when claiming 7/18 against Birmingham Bears.

On his arrival he said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining up with Durham from next season.

“I feel the time is right for a change and a new challenge.

“There will be a few familiar faces in the changing room which is always nice, and I look forward to creating some amazing memories on the field. ”

“Recruiting an experienced batting all-rounder who can perform in all formats was a priority to our recruitment strategy.
