The awards held at the Ramside Hall Hotel on Friday 12th October, reward those involved in local sport at all levels, and Geoff Cook was presented with a special award for Contribution to Sport in County Durham.
Geoff has been involved with Durham CCC since the club were a minor county, and worked relentlessly to set up the junior squads and Academy at the club. Helping to bring through players such as Steve Harmison, Paul Collingwood and Liam Plunkett, Geoff has had an enormous amount of success behind the scenes and transferred this to the big stage after taking control of the senior squad at the beginning of the season, inspiring the team to two trophies.
Geoff said “I am extremely proud to win this award; it’s always good to get recognition on a local level, from those people who see you most and really understand what you do. However, the award really is for the special group of players who performed exceptionally this season.”
