Cricket Fans Unite to Launch County Cricket Day

Cricket enthusiasts across the country are gearing up for County Cricket Day, a special campaign set to celebrate the essence of County Cricket. This initiative aims to draw as many people as possible to enjoy a live game on Sunday, 30th June 2024.

Conceived by cricket fans and brought to life in partnership with the County Cricket Members Group, County Cricket Day promotes the importance of affordable and accessible cricket while giving fans a chance to support their counties.

County Cricket has always been deeply rooted in local communities, providing a laid-back environment where fans can enjoy the game on their terms. Many counties are run by individuals passionate about the game, and are eager to welcome both new and seasoned fans alike.

Alex Wilson, co-organizer of County Cricket Day, said, “You can already see the green shoots of a resurgence in County Cricket, and that’s no surprise. People across the country are crying out for a sports experience that’s accessible, affordable, and rooted in their local communities. County Cricket Day is about building on that growing buzz, and making some noise to celebrate this brilliant format of the game.”

Alan Higham, national coordinator of the County Cricket Members Group, added, “Our core purpose is to ensure county cricket clubs thrive, so we are delighted to help launch County Cricket Day.

County Cricket has a unique charm and community spirit, fans can watch world class players like Jimmy Anderson, Joe Root, Ben Stokes and many more at a fraction of the price. It’s like a Test match but more personal with initiatives that are great for all the family, with children having easy access for autographs and the ability to play on world class grounds at lunch.

This event is a fantastic opportunity to showcase county cricket, and we believe it will inspire many to support their teams and enjoy the rich heritage of the sport.”

Whether you are an amateur cricketer, a dedicated fan, or someone experiencing live cricket for the first time, County Cricket Day promises a joyful and memorable day out for everyone. Mark your calendars for Sunday, 30th June 2024, and be part of this exciting initiative.

About County Cricket Day:

County Cricket Day is a fan-driven campaign created to celebrate County Championship cricket.
