Durham County Cricket Club and investment management and financial planning firm, Brewin Dolphin, have agreed to sign up for a further three year contract that will see the company continuing to sponsor Durham in the LV = County Championship until 2016.
The first division side and twice winner of the LV = County Championship in 2008 and 2009, has proudly sported the Brewin Dolphin logo on their four day shirt since first signing a three year sponsorship package with the firm in March 2010.
Since Brewin Dolphin’s sponsorship of Durham CCC began, the club has been an ever-present County in the First Division of the LV= County Championship. This new funding will help continue the development of a side widely tipped for even greater success next season and beyond and will create a range of exciting business opportunities for Brewin Dolphin to enhance business links and build on brand profile throughout the UK.
David Harker, Chief Executive of Durham County Cricket, says: “We are absolutely delighted that Brewin Dolphin has decided to extend their sponsorship in the LV= County Championship. The continuing support this gives the club and the team is extremely important for future plans for success on the field. It is particularly pleasing that we can build a partnership with a sponsor whose values are very close to our own. “
Brewin Dolphin Divisional Director, Vinay Bedi, said: “Overall the sponsorship has been a great success and we really feel part of the team. Our business is all about trust and building long-term relationships. Whether building an innings, or building a portfolio, these values can equally be shared on the cricket pitch, as in the boardroom. We’re really delighted to be further strengthening our relationship with a club and team who have been consistently strong performers in the Championship. “
Brewin Dolphin’s decision to re-new sponsorship with the club is based on the common goal that both organisations share to promote ambition, dedication, team building and a desire for growth.
And this bond is being strengthened further by the news that Durham CCC batsman and wicket-keeper, Michael Richardson, will work at the 250 year old company during the close season this winter.
With more than 350 staff based at Brewin Dolphin’s Newcastle office, the 26 year old South African, who has a degree in Finance, Accounting and Management, will join the firm on a temporary work placement in investment management, as he starts to consider a career beyond cricket.
He said, “There are skills that I can definitely take from cricket into my role here at Brewin Dolphin. Sport and business go hand in hand and I’m finding that I’m able to use some of the attributes I’ve learned from the game, such as dedication, good communication and team-work – to bring to my work here at Brewin Dolphin”.
