Durham Cricket have joined all 18 first class counties in an online charity cricket auction in partnership with the ECB, PCA and MCC, by donating a Durham Cricket T20 shirt signed by Ben Stokes. With proceeds going towards Chance to Shine, a charity which aims to give all children the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket.
The signed shirt from Ben Stokes is one of many exciting items up for grabs, including signed shirts from England internationals, Jofra Archer and Jack Leach,
A catalogue of 62 lots are now open for bidding at JohnPyeAuctions where cricket fans can also secure international match hospitality experiences at Lord’s, Kia Oval, Trent Bridge, Edgbaston, Emerald Headingley and Emirates Old Trafford.
Glamorgan, Leicestershire and Derbyshire have offered unique coaching sessions with their professional players and coaches and Sussex CCC have gone one step further by offering the use of their ground for a T20 fixture.
The auction forms part of the Together Through This Test campaign, cricket’s co-ordinated response to Covid-19 that seeks to highlight initiatives across the professional and amateur game.
All donors have nominated a charitable cause to receive the proceeds from their lots.
“There’s a huge sense of community and goodwill across cricket and we all saw an opportunity to collaborate for the greater good,” said Nottinghamshire Commercial Director Michael Temple, who brought the auction together.
“Every single Club has joined the MCC, ECB and PCA by contributing lots and nominating causes that mean something to them. We hope that cricket fans will find a compelling reason to bid knowing that the proceeds will be donated to causes deserving of the game’s support.”
Trent Bridge sponsors John Pye Auctions are supporting the initiative by waiving all fees and commissions and will host the lots on their secure online auction platform.
“When Trent Bridge approached us about discussing a national effort to raise money for good causes, we were happy to collaborate and put our full support immediately behind it,” said John Pye’s Business Development Director, Sheldon Miller.
