Durham Cricket Captain Ned Eckersley and Graham Clark of Durham Cricket were special guests at the launch event at Bellway’s Finchale Drive development off Scorers Lane.
They were joined by former England cricketer and coach of the Northern Superchargers women’s team in The Hundred, Danielle Hazell, to help reveal the new showhomes.
The cricketers cut the ribbon to unveil two four-bedroom showhomes, which are now available for viewing at the development.
Bellway North East has strong links with Durham Cricket, which is based at the Riverside Ground in nearby Chester-le-Street, after signing a sponsorship deal earlier this year.
Sales Director of Durham Cricket, Tom Seymour, said: “We are delighted to have Bellway North East as a partner of Durham Cricket.
“They are creating a fantastic new housing development for the area and have been really supportive of the club and the community activity we do in the region.
“Our players enjoyed being shown around the new Finchale Drive development and were excited to be part of the official launch event.”
Head of Sales for Bellway North East, Emma Chesterton, said: “We were delighted to welcome keen house-hunters to the showhome launch at Finchale Drive at the weekend.
“The launch was certainly a day to remember, thanks to all the attendees and players from Durham Cricket.
“Launching a new showhome is always an exciting time, as it gives buyers the chance to get a taste of what life at the development might be like, and this was no exception.”
Bellway is contributing over a quarter of a million pounds to local schools and community projects as part of its planning agreement for the new homes in Great Lumley.
There’s currently a choice of three and four-bedroom houses available to reserve at Finchale Drive, with prices starting from £192,995.
