Ds Abroad: Bas de Leede with another fifty for the Netherlands, Armitage with important runs for Sixers

Hollie Armitage scored 30 for the second time as her Sydney Sixers side pipped Hobart Hurricanes  by 6 runs in the Women’s Big Bash League in Hobart.

Sixers captain Elise Perry cracked 86 off 62 deliveries, in an innings that included 11 fours and two sixes, to ensure the visitors posted a competitive 7-155 at Hobart’s Ninja Stadium.

Perry went on to add 37 with Ashleigh Gardner (21 off 16) and 61 with Durham’s Hollie Armitage as she scored 30 off 25 balls.

Sixers posted 155 from 20 overs, while Hobart closing on 149, 9 wickets down.

Bas de Leede scored another World Cup League 2 half century, but his 51 off 89 balls wasn’t enough for the Dutch to claim victory over Oman.

The Dutch were put in to bat and only managed 132 runs, a total that was passed by Oman for the loss of only two wickets. De Leede only bowled one over, with his 6 balls going for 4 runs.

Colin Ackermann has also now joined up with the Netherlands, scoring 21 in a Dutch win against United Arab Emirates, along with picking up 1 wicket.

The Netherlands reached 241/8, with Bas de Leede scoring 18, in reply United Arab Emirates were bowled out for 174 in 45.2 overs.

The Dutch team will play its last One Day International of this Series on Monday, November 11, 2024 against Oman. The top 4 of the World Cup League two will play a qualifying tournament for the 2027 World Cup in 2027.
