After winning the toss and electing to bat Leicestershire struggled to gain any momentum as Durham’s bowlers gained the upper hand. Neil Killeen and Luke Evans opened the bowling and finished with 5 wickets shared between them. Neil Killeen finished with 12.1 overs, 4maidens, 25 runs and 3 wickets luke Evans 8-0-41-2.
First and Second change bowlers Will Gidman and MJ Allan combined to take another 5 wicket with Gidman claiming 3 and Allan 2. Leicestershire were bowled out for 133 after only 42.1 overs.
Durham then wiped of the lead and progressed to lead by 105 runs at the end of play. Mark Stoneman scored 90 and shared an opening partnership of 131 with Karl Turner who contributed 46. At close Gordon Muchall was undefeated on 60 accompanied by Garry Park on 16.
