After winning the toss and electing to bat Worcester lost wickets at regular intervals as they subsided to 133 all out. Luke Evans, Paul Muchall, Will Gidman and Paul Hindmarch all collected two wickets as Durhams bowlers made a good start in the first innings.
Durham’s 2ndXI captain Gordon Muchall then anchored the Durham innings with 135 as they made 470-8 declared. Muchall recieved support from Scott with 69, Smith with 64 and Turner unbeaten on 56.
With a lead of 337 Durham looked to wrap up the Worcester innings quickly. Luke Evans and Paul Hindmarch then opened the bowling and made some early inroads. Bowling only a 2 over spell Hindmarch picked up both openers for ducks. Paul Muchall also picked up 2 wickets to finish with 2-16. Will Gidman and Garry Park also picked also picked up 2 wickets each as Worcestershire finished 1 run short of their first innings effort on 132 all out.
