Durham CCC v Australia A day two round up

Durham need to dismiss Australia ‘A’ for less than 168 on the third and final day of the Tourist Match to claim victory at Emirates Durham ICG tomorrow (Friday)

Durham picked up the last four Australia A wickets for 65 runs with Mitchell Claydon striking early with the fourth ball of the innings, bowling Coulter-Nile on 24.

Within three overs Ruel Brathwaite picked up two scalps, with Paine caught behind on 40 and Starc (24) caught by Coughlin, taking his haul to three from the innings off 6.5 overs.
An Ian Blackwell wicket between the two saw Holland (2) trapped lbw.

Durham began their second innings with a lead of 38 on the board which proved important after the early loss of Mark Stoneman, who was caught behind off Mitchell Starc.

Alister McDermott dismissed Rammy Singh and Ben Stokes just as they reached double figures with Gordon Muchall (10) caught in the slips by Forrest off Coulter-Nile for 10.

Durham were 49-5 following Johann Myburgh’s dismissal as he was caught behind with Coulter-Nile the bowler, bringing Michael Richardson to the crease to join Ian Blackwell.

Blackwell went on to reach fifty having hit three successive maximums in the over, with 30 was added to the overall total off the six deliveries.  The 86 run partnership came to an end when he was caught off the bowling of Holland for 62.

Three lbw decisions followed, with Mark Wood (12), Paul Coughlin (3) and Michael Richardson (34) out to Coulter-Nile and Holland, taking their respective hauls to three apiece.

Claydon added 13 before he was bowled by Starc for 13 with Durham all out for 185, having established a lead of 223.

Liam Davis and Ed Cowan batted the full 13 overs before bad light and drizzle brought about a premature close of play with Australia ‘A’ 56-0, trailing Durham by 168.
