Durham Cricket are delighted to announce that three of the 2019 playing staff have signed new contracts with the club.
Liam Trevaskis, Jack Burnham and Stuart Poynter have all put pen to paper to remain at Emirates Riverside on two-year deals.
20-year-old Liam Trevaskis also grasped the opportunity in 2019 as he became the counties premier spinner across all formats. In the RLODC the left-arm orthodox bowler excelled bowling 42 overs at an economy of just 4.45 – taking 7 wickets in the process. He backed that up by taking 12 wickets in the Blast, with an economy rate that ranked 5th out of bowlers who’d bowled 40 overs in the competition.
Burnham, 22, recorded 4 half centuries in the Specsavers County Championship as Durham narrowly missed out on promotion to Division One. The former England Under-19 star contributed across all three formats and is looking to develop further in 2020.
Wicketkeeper Stuart Poynter captained the Vitality Blast side for the early part of the T20 season as Durham just missed out on the knockout stages. The 28-year-old – who is just 11 first-class runs away from 1,000 – has made the decision to continue his county career, turning down the opportunity to further represent Ireland in international cricket.
