Durham Cricket partner with law firm Simpson Millar

Law firm Simpson Millar has signed a one-year sponsorship deal with Durham Cricket, which will see the firm’s logo featured on the back of the men’s Academy team playing shirts throughout the season.

A national firm with a military hub in Catterick Garrison, Simpson Millar provides expert legal services to people across the region, offering specialist support to military personnel.

As part of the sponsorship deal, the firm will also be supporting a special Armed Forces Day at Seat Unique Riverside on Sunday 7 August, during Durham’s Royal London Cup campaign against Middlesex.

To mark the event, Durham Cricket will be offering armed forces, veterans, and their family members the opportunity to attend for free, with up to 4 tickets per family which can be accessed here. On the day, money will be raised for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, The Army’s National Charity

Commenting on the sponsorship deal Durham Cricket Sales Director, Tom Seymour, said: “We are delighted to have signed Simpson Millar Solicitors as our official sponsor for the year ahead.

“The support of the local business community is integral to our ongoing success as a club, particularly our Academy teams, and to the success of our special events such as our Army Veterans Day.

“With Simpson Millar’s backing we’re looking forward to putting on a great day for our local armed forces members and veterans, as well as their families, and we are excited to be once again raising funds for ABF The Soldier’s Charity.”

Steven Horsley, Head of Military Claims at Simpson Millar, said: “As a firm it is really important to us that we support the local communities in which we work and live, and this sponsorship is reflective of that commitment.

“Durham Cricket Academy has been the breeding ground for the England Test Side providing such England stars as Ben Stokes and Mark Wood. We at Simpson Millar are proud to play our small part in supporting the cricket stars of the future. We wish the Club every success for the season ahead”

“Equally, ABF The Soldier’s Charity does fantastic work on behalf of soldiers past and present, and their families, including many of our clients. We are delighted to be able to sponsor the August event where we can get behind this great cause.”

Lt Col Barney Barnbrook, Regional Director for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, said: “We’re truly grateful to Durham County Cricket Club and Simpson Millar for offering this fantastic opportunity.

“The North East remains a vital recruiting area for the Army and, as many soldiers return home at the end of their service, the need for the Charity’s support in the region is significant.”

Catterick Garrison Commander, Lt Col Jim Turner said: “We are very grateful for this generous offer by Durham Cricket and Simpson Millar.

“The 7th of August promises to be a really enjoyable day for Service personnel, Veterans and their families, as well as a great way to support the Army Benevolent Fund – The Soldiers’ Charity.”
