Durham Cricket supports #GroundsWeek

Durham Cricket and its Groundstaff Association are glad to be supporting the Grounds Management Association’s #GroundsWeek, which recognises the vital role of professional grounds staff, volunteers, and the turf sector play in making sport possible.

Durham Cricket is joining the Grounds Management Association this week (1-7 March) in saying thank you to the many volunteers who played a pivotal role in getting the game on last summer, as they gear up to support our game once again in the upcoming season.

Following a difficult year for the sector, due to the impact of Covid-19, the #GroundsWeek campaign aims to showcase groundstaff and the amazing work that they do – and have continued to do – despite sport coming to a grinding halt. It also comes after a year where parks and green spaces have been valuable to the public’s health – with increased use for ‘daily exercise’ and physical activity.

To support the campaign, Durham Cricket is inviting clubs, parents and players to send in photos of their club’s ground alongside a short message of recognition towards their club’s groundsperson.

Send your photos and messages to: iliyana.farfarova@durhamcricket.co.uk

We’ll share the best photos and messages across our Grassroots social media accounts, dedicating this week as a tribute to all the fantastic work recreational groundstaff carry out to support the entire game.
