The awards took place at on Thursday, 14 November, recognising excellence across the First-Class Counties and MCC and the key contributors behind the scenes

Durham picked up the Best Digital Creative Content of the Year Award following the Club’s commitment to providing a world-class viewing experience which led to the development of a broadcast standard live streaming service.

This transformative initiative aimed to elevate our content to a level that could compete with traditional network broadcasts, attracting a wider audience and enhancing our club’s overall reach.

This included upgraded camera Equipment, investing in high-quality cameras and lenses to capture the action in stunning detail, enhanced production values Implementing a new mixing desk to ensure superior audio quality and overall production standards.

The club introduced a dedicated studio constructing a professional-looking studio environment with appropriate lighting, sound equipment, and graphics, while using world class commentary including Steve Harmison and David Lloyd; while also providing commentary opportunities to young aspiring sports journalists and recent graduates giving them the chance to commentate in a professional sports environment working to professional industry standard.

Our strategic approach resulted in significant success, both in terms of production and content quality, revenue generation and audience growth. Through careful negotiation and partnership development, we secured two major sponsorships that not only offset the costs of our live stream but also provided a substantial fund to invest in the production which was the ultimate aim for the Club.

Media and Communications Manager, Sam Blacklock said: “We are delighted to win this award at Durham Cricket. We have put a huge amount of work in over the last few years to provide a world class streaming service, offering our fans and spectators with an insight into cricket both on and off the field. After a strong 2024 season we are excited to expand our streaming service into 2025 with our women’s tier 1 team along with building on our excellent men’s coverage.
