Durham Cricket are set to run their Super 4s competition for a second season after a successful debut last year.
The women’s competition, introduced last summer to strengthen the structure of the female sport across the county, will take place this Saturday, 3rd August at Emirates Riverside.
The Super 4s will feature some of the best female cricketers from Durham and the neighboring counties, who will showcase the highest standard of women’s cricket in Durham, outside of county level.
On Saturday, the four teams involved – Hawks, Rockets, Panthers and Infernos – will play their semi-finals at 11.00am, before the best two qualify for the final in the afternoon.
The defending champions Infernos, captained by Laura Ellison, will face Rachel Hopkins’s Panthers, as the Rockets, led by Beth Walker, will be up against Ami Campbell’s Hawks.
The competition is the only women’s non-club-based competition in Durham and aims to link up and further strengthen the existing women’s structure.
Spectators are welcome to attend and support the teams tomorrow, 3rd August, at Emirates Riverside. The two semi-finals will start at 11.00am, with the final scheduled for 2.00pm.
