Durham Cricket are in a confident mood going into their final Vitality Blast group game of the season, when they face Notts Outlaws at Trent Bridge tomorrow afternoon [Sunday 20 September 1pm] – hoping to qualify for the quarter finals of this year’s competition.
Durham who have turned their campaign around with four wins in their last four outings travel to the East Midlands to face a strong Outlaws side who have lost just once in this year’s Blast season. Durham currently sit in third place in the North group with 9 points and a win could potentially take them into the knockout stages. Notts, on the other hand have qualified already for the quarter finals.
Lead High Performance Coach James Franklin has named an unchanged squad of 15 from their previous four games for tomorrow’s clash at Trent Bridge, which are in superb form after a rampant display with the ball against Lancashire on Friday night.
Matthew Potts has been in excellent form with the ball in the previous four games, taking career best in all three of his previous spells with the ball, he currently sits in third position for the leading wicket takers in the whole country this season with 13, one behind Ollly Stone in 14 of Birmingham Bears.
Alex Lees has continued where he left off with the red ball this summer, having a fine season in Durham’s Vitality Blast campaign, he is the fourth leading run scorer of the tournament this summer with 337 runs, 60 behind Stephen Eskinazi of Middlesex.
Even a win at Trent Bridge may not guarantee a quarter final spot for Durham but two points would put the Ds in a commanding position.
