Durham lads shine as five Durham players feature at the ECB Super4s in Loughborough

Durham’s North representatives shine as the Club have five players feature at the ECB Super4s in Loughborough.

Durham were well-represented with James Minto, Robbie Bowman, Luke Symington, Callum Gaffney and Will Alexander all featuring in 50 over and T20 matches throughout the week for The North side at Loughborough University.

Minto starred with the ball in The North’s opening fixture as he took figures of 3-37 in eight overs, spearing one into the top of off stump in the opening over before returning twice to remove set batters in a four-wicket defeat to London & East. Minto went on to grab three further wickets across the week, ending with six in four bowling outings.

Symington scored 148 runs across the week, the highlight being his 77 at the top of the order featuring nine fours and a six as The North scored 324 in 44 overs in a one wicket defeat to The Midlands.

Gaffney provided The North with useful middle order runs and wickets with his left-arm spin. He claimed six wickets across the week alongside his 86 runs with his most promising contribution also coming against The Midlands with a pair of wickets and a 20-ball innings of 31.

Wicketkeeper-batter Bowman made 86 runs in his five innings at Loughborough, impressing behind the stumps too. Bowman’s highest score of 33 came against The Midlands before he made 27 in a T20 against London and East. In his two outings behind the stumps, Bowman took three catches and a stumping.

Alexander claimed four scalps in four appearances with the ball, shining in The North’s tight defeat to the Midlands with two wickets. He proved to be the partnership breaker, ending stands of 75 and 85 to finish with two wickets in the match.
