Two Durham Academy players have been selected to play in ECB Young Lions Super 4s, taking place this week.
Jonny Bushnell and Tom Mackintosh are both playing in the competition, which features the best under-17 cricketers from around England and Wales.
The Durham Academy players are part of the North team, that have won two games so far.
On Wednesday, 21st August, North Under-17s won beat the Midlands, as Bushnell impressed with the bat, scoring seven boundaries, including the winning shot to claim the game.
Bushnell, batting fourth, finished on 40 not out off 29 balls, as his team won by 7 wickets.
In their first fixture on Monday, 19th August, the North played London and East as Mackintosh and Bushnell contributed 32 and 23 towards a total of 195.
Mackintosh stood at the crease with Lancashire’s George Bell for a half-century-scoring partnership.
The Super 4s has proved a good testing ground for young talent in recent years, sitting between the ECB David English Bunbury Festival and the England U19s setup on the Performance Pathway.
ECB’s competition is in its seventh year this week, with 52 players looking to impress the coaches, scouts and selectors who are tracking their progress.
Bushnell and Mackintosh are playing against the South West today.
