27th June 2019 T20 Blast

Durham set for biggest Blast ever!

After reaching the quarter-final of last year’s Vitality T20 Blast, Durham Cricket fans are set to flock to the Emirates Riverside in July and August – with record numbers expected through the gates during the 2019 campaign.

Tickets went on general sale on 1 March, and months on the club is delighted to announce that sales are trending toward record numbers – in part due to the fantastic early season ticket sales.

The Club are on course to exceed previous year’s overall ticket sales and 23 August Derby Day fixture against the Yorkshire Vikings looks set to achieve a record crowd.

The competition will also see the Durham debut of one of the best T20 batsman in the world – Australian D’Arcy Short – who has signed for the entirety of the 2019 campaign.

A renowned white ball cricketer, the left-handed batsman – and occasional left arm leg-spinner – averages 37.75 in the format, notching 16 half centuries and boasts a high score of 122* – his lone T20 century.

The 28-year-old has represented Australia on 24 occasions, 20 of those in the T20 format where Short averages 32.88 and has four half centuries.

The Club has looked to emphasise the enjoyment for families during the 2019 campaign with an improved Liontrust Family Zone – which will be available around the ground at every Blast match.

The Zone includes a batting simulator, fielding inflatables, the Durham Cricket speed cage, All Stars zone, sweets, face painters and many more activities.

Both of our mascots, Chester and River will also be in the Liontrust Family Zone. They will be posing for selfies, photographs and no doubt causing mischief.

In addition, the ‘School’s Out for the Summer’ day on Friday July 19 against the Northants Steelbacks is proving to be a particular hit, tickets are selling fast with U19s going FREE and adults’ tickets just £10.

The club have also offered all children who signed up to the ECB’s All Stars Cricket initiative a free Durham membership as we continue to build DCCC’s fanbase and presented the parents with a season ticket offer with a 70% saving.

Durham Cricket will also be hosting an all-stars and family day on the Sunday August 11 when Notts Outlaws are the visitors to the Emirates Riverside.

This has helped continue the upward trend of junior members and families attending the Blast fixtures over the last few years.

The Club have frozen season ticket prices for the Vitality T20 at £70 for adults and just £20 for a junior membership – which gets juniors into all formats played at the Emirates Riverside.

They can be purchased on the official Durham website or by calling the Box Office on 0844 499 4466. Individual match tickets are also available.
