Durham have another chance to keep their qualification hopes alive when they take on Lancashire Lightning tomorrow afternoon at Emirates Old Trafford [18 September, 4pm]
The Ds are now unbeaten in three having enjoyed wins over Derbyshire Falcons, Leicestershire Foxes and last night Yorkshire Vikings, and will be hoping to make it four in four next time around.
Durham will go into the game in Manchester with an unchanged squad of 15 to play Lancashire – having put in three outstanding performances in their recent fixtures. On the back of last night’s win Durham moved up to third place in the North group, meaning two wins in their final two games would put them in a perfect position to reach the quarter finals.
Notts Outlaws and Lancashire Lightning occupy the top two spots in the North group, with the top two teams from the North, Central and South groups qualifying for the quarter finals, along with the best two third-placed finishers from across all three groups.
Durham Captain, Nathan Rimmington knows that Durham have now set the standard going into the final two games of the season, he said: “We said after we came off [against Yorkshire], ‘That’s our standard now – that’s the energy we should have every single time from ball one.
“They didn’t have their full-strength team out, but we can only play what’s in front of us.
“It was just about keeping the momentum going. We’ve had two good wins, so to get the third means we’re on a roll now. Hopefully we can keep that going.
“We should be full of confidence heading to Old Trafford on Friday. They’ve got a good team, but I’d back our boys.”
