2013 promises to be a huge year for the Durham County Cricket Club and we are delighted to announce three first team players have signed up for the 2013 season, with batsmen Keaton Jennings and bowlers Callum Thorp and Jamie Harrison all putting pen to paper on new contracts.
2012 was a breakthrough season for South African born Jennings, who after some impressive 2nd XI performances, was rewarded with a debut cap against Surrey. Durham’s 2012 2nd XI Player of the Year notched up two double hundreds this season for the second string and cemented his place in the first team towards the end of the season. Keaton has signed a two year contract at Emirates Durham ICG.
Pace duo Callum Thorp and Jamie Harrison have both signed one year deals at Emirates Durham. Like Keaton, Academy graduate Jamie Harrison made his first team breakthrough in 2012. Jamie made the most of the early season conditions to earn ten wickets as his left arm pace bowling became a regular part of the Durham line up in the LV= County Championship. Held back by injury towards the end of the season, Jamie will be looking to get that first team birth back in 2013.
Durham are also delighted that Callum Thorp has signed on for another season. Best remembered for his 7-44 in Durham’s Championship winning match at Kent in 2008, Callum remains a vital cog in the Durham bowling attack. Callum will be looking to build on his 86 First Class appearances and 249 first class wickets.
