Joseph Davis scored 105 as Durham Cricket boys’ Under 15s got their ECB County Cup campaign underway with an impressive 233 run victory over Cumbria at Norton.
Having lost the toss, Durham were asked to bat by Cumbria captain Sam Bates, with the home side adding 91 for the first wicket, as Sam Goodwin was run out for 20.
Durham were reduced to 96/3, but a fourth wicket stand of 127 between Joseph Davis and Henry Hopkins led Durham to 223/3. Davies led the way with his century in 91 balls with seven fours and six sixes before he was caught by the Cumbria captain.
Charlie Coulthard (53) and Henry Hopkins (41) both contributed towards Durham’s 317 as they were bowled out in 49.4 overs.
Callum High (3/48) and Josh Brown (2/47) were the pick of the bowlers for the visiting side.
Durham picked up two early wickets in reply reducing Cumbria to 15/2, as Kenzie Peakman and Mason Bell dismissed both openers.
A 50-run partnership for the third wicket steadied the ship for the visitors but Sebastian Hughes-Pinan bowled Allison to break the partnership.
That wicket brought the Cumbria collapse, as they lost 7 wickets for 17 runs, with Jay Kennedy returning fantastic figures of 4/2 from just 1.1 overs, being bowled out for 84 in 27.1 overs.
Sebastian Hughes-Pinan picked up 2/3 with Matthew Noble claiming 2/31 from 6 overs.
Durham Cricket boys’ Under 15s are next in action against Northumberland next Wednesday at Emirates Riverside.
