Durham win U17 ECB County Championship Title

The Durham U17s have won the ECB U17 County Championship final today, defeating Kent at Arundel Castle Cricket Club.

After winning the toss and batting first Durham made 280 off 95.5 overs with Jack Burnham starring with the bat to make 124, he was assisted by Paul Brathwaite (64) and Danny Anderson (27).

In reply it was Callum Buckley who tore through the Kent attack taking 5-7 off 15.3 overs with an incredible 13 maidens in his spell.  Wing was also economical taking 2-15 off his 7 overs as Kent were bowled out for 165 in the 70th over.

Coach John Windows said his side had a consistent season with all squad members contributing to the side’s success.

The team beat Northants in their semi-final and qualified from the group defeating Yorkshire, Lancashire and Derby before taking the crown today against Kent.

Durham County Cricket Club Chief Executive David Harker this afternoon congratulated the side on their title win:
