Durham and Hampshire will be battling it out to go top of Pool B in the Yorkshire Bank40 competition tomorrow at Emirates Durham ICG.
There are a couple of changes to the Dynamos squad with Jamie Harrison coming in for Mark Wood (illness) and Michael Richardson also included in the squad for the crucial match against the Royals.
There will also be a couple of changes to the team’s coaching structure following the sad news of Geoff Cook’s heart attack yesterday. Cook remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition and the club’s thoughts are with him and his family during this tough period.
Durham Second XI coach Jon Lewis will take over the Head Coach role in the interim with Dale Benkenstein assisting him during the T20 season which starts next Friday.
Allan Walker will continue to have an influence and will remain in his Assistant Coach role.
Alistair Maiden will take over as Second XI coach as Jon Lewis steps up to the Firsts team with Neal Killeen assisting Maiden in the Seconds coaching structure.
Durham will be looking for their fourth win in a row in the Yorkshire Bank 40 having defeated Derbyshire, Lancashire and Scotland over the past month with the last loss against their next opponents, Hampshire who defeated the Dynamos in late May with the Royals taking the 5 wicket win.
The rain affected match at the Ageas Bowl, which saw teams face off in 36 overs each, saw Ben Stokes top score for the Dynamos making 87 (71) and Will Smith 50 (35) with Durham making 241.
The Royals chased down the runs with an over to spare however with opener Michael Carberry making 96 from 86 and Jimmy Adams run a ball 67 steering Hampshire to victory.
