The Dynamos made an aggressive, confident start who opened with Phil Mustard and Callum Thorp who pushed the visitors passed fifty by the sixth over. Mustard went on to score a 23 ball fifty after 6.3 overs, hitting ten fours and a six in the process.
Thorp was the first man out, stumped off Spriegel’s first delivery, which was a wide, for 15, at which the Dynamos were 72-1 after 7.1 overs.
Two overs later the Dynamos lost Mustard who was caught by Stuart Meaker off Zander de Bruyn for 66.Mark Stoneman went on to add 27 before he was trapped lbw for 27.
Michael Di Venuto was run out for 12 but in the meantime Paul Collingwood had constructed his fifty from 45 deliveries.
Dale Benkenstein was dropped on 19 and went on to score 48 before he was caught in the deep by Tom Maynard off Chris Schofield 2.3 overs into the batting powerplay with Durham 260-5.
With Durham looking to pile on the runs Collingwood, going for the big shot to bring up his hundred, was dismissed on 94. Gareth Breese added four before he was trapped lbw by Schofield, picking up his third wicket.
Scott Borthwick was run out for 11 off the last ball of the Dynamos innings.
The Dynamos set the hosts 326 for the win, at a rate of 8.1 an over.
The Dynamos didn’t allow the hosts to build any early momentum after Graham Onions had Steve Davies caught in the covers by Stoneman for 4 and then picked up a second catch, this time off Claydon to dismiss Jason Roy (5) with the Lions stuck on 22-2 in the fourth over.
Surrey were 65-3 in the ninth over after Rory Hamilton-Brown (30) was run out thanks to a great throw to the keeper by Thorp
De Bruyn added 19 before he was bowled by Thorp leaving the hosts 105-4 in the 16th over. He added a second scalp to his tally two overs later after he bowled Maynard for 56.
Surrey were 228-6 int he 30th over once Schofield was caught at backward point by Collingwood off Claydon for 46. A great throw from Benkenstein saw Gareth Batty run out for 9 with the hosts 252-7 in the 33rd over. The eighth wicket fell thanks to a superb catch from Collingwood which dismissed Chris Jordan off Thorp in the same over
The hosts were 39 runs short with 4.1 overs remaining once Spriegel was bowled by Claydon for 86. Scott Borthwick claimed the final wicket off the match when Meaker was caught behind on 5 securing the Dynamos a 36 run win.
