ECB Coaching Qualifications Have Changed

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has updated its coaching qualifications to help make the cricket coaching journey more accessible for anyone wanting to be involved – whether just starting out or having been qualified for a while.

The main change is the new titles of the coaching qualifications. Foundation I Coach, equivalent to 1st4sport Level 1, will now be referred to as Foundation Coach and the old Coach Support Worker is now titled Support Coach.

ECB is also due to launch the Core Coach course in November, which will replace the ECB Certificate in Coaching Children’s Cricket and ECB Certificate in Coaching Young People and Adults’ Cricket provision.

The new titles of ECB’s coaching courses are as follows:

Support Coach

Foundation Coach (1st4sport Level 1)

Core Coach (1st4sport Level 2)

Advanced Coach (1st4sport Level 3)

Specialist Coach (1st4sport Level 4)

The update is part of a wider strategic response to needing more coaches on the ground able to inspire and develop players.

Foundation Coach

We are running a number of Foundation Coach courses across Durham. Foundation Coach is the entry level coaching qualification in cricket and will give learners the knowledge, skills and confidence to coach cricket sessions that are active, purposeful, enjoyable and safe.

Core Coach

ECB is due to launch the Core Coach in November, after which we will announce courses across Durham. To express you interest in the Core Coach training, full out the form below and we will be in touch with more information as soon as it becomes available.
