Durham Cricket can announce the signing of wicketkeeper-batsman Ned Eckersley for the 2019 season.
The 29-year-old has signed a season-long deal with the Club after undertaking a successful trial period over the winter.
The right-handed batsman has scored over 5,700 first-class runs, scoring 14 centuries for Leicestershire across a seven-year period at Grace Road.
He scored 83 off 75 balls during the 50-over pre-season match in Potchefstroom and will now provide depth and healthy competition for the wicketkeeping spot across all three formats.
“I’m pleased to have signed at Durham and can’t wait to get going for the Club,” he said.
“I feel ready to go. I’ve already spent a good amount of time here, have got to know the lads well and feel like my game is in good shape going into the season.”
Eckersley is in contention for the Specsavers County Championship opener at Derbyshire on Friday, with a squad to be announced on Thursday.
Outstanding addition to our squad, great player that simply shouldn’t have been without a county. Welcome @nedeckersley #ForTheNorth https://t.co/OEIp6cxJJF
