Voting is now open for May’s Eden Mill Player of the Month!
Four players are up in the vote for last month’s prize, a month which saw a number of impressive individual outings & career-bests.
James Weighell, Michael Richardson, Stuart Poynter & Mark Wood are the four vying for your vote before the midday deadline on Thursday, 7 June.
Weighell produced an outstanding, man-of-the-match performance at the start of the month as Durham came from behind to record a stunning victory over Leicestershire. The 24-year-old took 7/32 in the second innings, beating his previous best against Warwickshire in 2016.
Richardson’s nomination is off the back of runs in the Royal London One-Day Cup campaign, which he added to an impressive century in the Specsavers County Championship match at Derbyshire.
His partner during that record partnership, Stuart Poynter, receives his nomination for scoring a first-class best 170, a 242-minute knock that helped hand Durham a healthy first innings lead after being 175/5 in response to the hosts’ 427.
That game also brings the final nominee for May in the shape of Mark Wood. He earned a Test call-up after a fiery spell during the second innings, also recording career-best figures of 6/46 from 23 overs to put Derbyshire under big pressure on the final day.
