Eight Runners complete the Great North Run for Durham Cricket Foundation

Durham Cricket Foundation participated in the Great North Run for a fifth consecutive time with its largest running team to date, raising nearly £2,500.

Eight runners completed the half marathon last Sunday, 11 September, in support of the Foundation’s work at the Great North Children’s Hospital, as the event went ahead as “a fitting tribute to the Queen”.

The Foundation’s team of runners joined 60.000 others who tackled the 41st Great North Run in honour and celebration of the life and service of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Cricket Development Officer at Durham Cricket Darren Brown completed the 13.1-mile city-to-sea course under the banner of the Foundation and in support of his club – Willington Cricket Club – for the 4th consecutive time.

Darren was joined by Paul Iredale, who is supporting the Foundation for a second year, Jessica Adams, David Lamb, Emma Lusardi, Jamie Robson, Matthew Willis and Charlie Winn.

The donations will go towards Durham Cricket’s project at the Great North Children’s Hospital, which works with children undergoing long-term care through delivering a sports and educational programme.

Going into its third academic year later this month, the project will continue to deliver fun, active and engaging sessions, giving patients something positive to look forward to, thanks to the funds raised.

Durham Cricket Foundation would like to thank all runners who tackled the half-marathon under the Foundation banner.
