England clinch impressive ODI series win against Australia

England have won their one-day series against Australia with two games still remaining after three heroic victories down under.

The tourists, who had previously racked up impressive white ball wins in Melbourne and Brisbane, took a 3-0 lead after Jos Buttler’s scintillating century led England to a 16-run win at the SCG.

Buttler played a majestic innings, reaching his ton in just 83 balls from the final delivery of the innings as England posted 302-6.

Aaron Finch made 62 in reply, while Mitch Marsh hit 55, but Australia could never get ahead of the required rate and following Marcus Stoinis’ dismissal in the final over saw them fall 16 runs short.

Eoin Morgan’s side have an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series, with the fourth ODI at Adelaide on Friday.
